Depression might not seem a big deal in its simplest form. In fact, we are all expected to get depressed occasionally. What is not expected is that we feel suicidal or immobilized by the emotion. This is never a good sign; at such times you ought to go see a doctor or talk to those that love and care for you. They will be able to help you before you do something harmful to yourself.
Many people term depression as a temporary sadness or loneliness. However the condition can easily become much more than just that. You could remain depressed for days, even months. There are even times when you might think of ending it all. That's when depression becomes a disease. So, don't ever let it get out of hand. Know that you are the master of your life and you can decide how you feel and “control” that decision!
Depression is a mood; a feeling. However, uncontrolled, it is a sickness, and not one that is easy or cheap to treat. In the United States, people spend billions in dollars every year to treat the disease and its related symptoms. But a simple depression treatment is NOT to allow any negative thought in your mind to grow. As soon as a negative thought comes to your mind, replace it with a positive one!
Estrogen secretion in women is responsible for a lot of things about them. Sometimes when a woman is depressed, it is because she has a lot of it acting in her body at that time. That is why men never need to get upset when a lady lashes out at them; they ought to be more understanding.
Depression may appear in anyone anytime from their childhood up until old age. Usually it begins when you get into your 20s but it has been known to start up plenty earlier, especially in recent times. Back in the day, one may have thought that it was something that took place only in people beyond the age of thirty, but well, we live in a fast changing world. If you have young children, it’s time to talk to them to ensure they are not always depressed. If they are, seek help for them right away, before it gets clinical.
Depression comes slowly and gradually worsens until it becomes a full fledged disease. On the other hand, the depression could erupt out of the blues; suddenly coming upon you within the matter of a few weeks or days. This is admittedly not usual, but you might want to be on the lookout.
When you suffer from depression, people might not easily be able to tell. Sometimes you may oversleep, but the most likely thing is that you will find it difficult to sleep at all. It is similar to the way the disease affects your eating habits. I always advise people to try and fight the war against depression. The sooner you fight and win, the better.
Depression can begin in any number of ways. Sometimes it's slow at the onset, worsening gradually, and sometimes it hits you suddenly and big time. Always, it causes you to experience serious changes in your feelings and your outlook. Don't ever let negative thoughts get you down. That's the start of depression.
I have seen a depressed person attempt to commit suicide before. He was angry with God for striking his brother ill. He wasn’t exactly trying to end it; he was actually going to have a chat with “the Old Man up there,” and reason it out with him. Good thing “the Old Man” wasn’t prepared to give him audience; I still have my brother. But that’s depression at work for you. Most people who commit suicide would surely regret their actions if they could come back and look at the richness that their future held… if they had lived up to that future.
A depressed person could sometimes have trouble looking themselves in the mirror. To them the mirror appears to reflect ugliness and repulsion. Scratch the surface and you could find that they are perhaps kicking themselves for some trivial thing that they would have passed up.
An obvious cause such as marital conflict or financial difficulty might seem to you as the reason for your depression, but it has got to be something that is really reaching you on the inside. So – therein lies your source of getting rid of such feelings. Look within and fill yourself up with happiness. If you do, you will be on your way towards getting rid of depression.
Adopted kids don't often exhibit the same stress patterns as their adoptive parents. It is easy to tell from this that a biological parent being prone to depression also suggests that the child might have the problem as well.
Besides the fact that depression is a disease on its own, it could also be caused by a number of other diseases or physical conditions. Obesity, for one, is a condition that perhaps guarantees you depression from time to time. Cancer also often makes you think so much you could end up depressed. But since you can control your mind, you can control depression. Everything begins with your mind. If you are the master of your thoughts, you will be the master of depression, not the slave.
There is a distinct possibility that an imbalance of hormones in your body may play a role in depression. You may understand this simply by studying women. Some of them can get very emotional and even unreasonable when their hormones rage. Depression is one of these emotions, and sometimes it can get very extreme.
Depression could cause you to brood and worry all the time. Bad part? You don’t know what you’re brooding about. And so you would brood and sulk all over the place with no focus, looking for someone to brood with you. And when you do not find anybody to brood with or to, you brood some more. If you are the party that helps a depressed person by brooding with them, it’s just not fair. You are doing him or her a great deal of harm… and yourself too, eventually.
Depression is a weird emotion at best, regularly causing you to behave in the most dependent, yet hostile manner conceivable. You also tend to appear impulsive, yet pointless in your activity. That's depression. Not a good thing at all and something you should fight with all your might.
