You hear a lot about vitamins and minerals, but do you have any idea if you are getting what you need? For the most part, you probably are. My mother gave me a book she read a long time ago, and it said that those who do not get enough vitamins and minerals every day not only get sick much easier, they also walk around with strange cravings.
I read the book and it got me thinking about a teacher I had in fifth grade. This guy was your typical teacher, though he was not very energetic. Quite often he would eat the chalk he had in the classroom. Though we thought it was funny at the time, I never thought there was a reason why he did it. May be it had something to do with the amount of vitamins and minerals in his diet? I am not sure, but this book was telling me it was. It's a fascinating theory. Our bodies do crave vitamins and minerals we aren't getting, but would it make us eat chalk?
So this might be the explanation why you crave certain foods. That's definitely not as awful as eat chalk, but this might explain odd cravings, particularly during pregnancy. Expecting women necessitate more vitamins and minerals than anyone else, and they have to be sure they get them. If they are not getting the vitamins and minerals for themselves as well as what they need for their growing baby, does this drive them to ask for Italian dressing and hotdogs in the middle of the night? I am not sure.
honestly don't know if a lack of important vitamins and minerals might explain cravings, even though the guy who wrote the book made some great points. What I do know is that if you are dieting you deal with cravings every day, and maybe if you make sure your amount of vitamins and minerals is what it should be might just stop a few of those crazy urges that make you over eat. Even though it's just a theory, perhaps making sure you take a daily vitamin might help you to keep a lid on your cravings just in case it works. If you take up a diet plan that ensures you get the right foods each day, maybe that, along with the vitamins, might provide you the head start you require to stay on track. Just don't eat chalk, ok?
